While at the world-renown law firm of Latham & Watkins her negotiation skills and experience were honed in both real estate matters and as Liaison for the Latham & Watkins team and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Her uniquely qualified background and thorough comprehension of the complexities of real estate transactions, yield her the ultimate expertise in brokering deals for clients looking to buy and sell quality properties and development projects.
Whenever possible, Van Essen spends time traveling globally to continue developing her international network and to gain a better understanding of real estate markets elsewhere.
As a longtime resident of Beverly Hills, Van Essen expresses her sense of international community through her long term memberships with the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, the Los Angeles World Affairs’ Council, the Pacific Council and as a donor to the American Red Cross and the International Medical Corps among others.
